A CV is crucial for job applications. However, beginners often make unnecessary and avoidable mistakes. Since employers scan CVs quickly, avoiding errors that appear unprofessional is key to help job seekers refine their CVs and improve their "prospects" of getting a job.

One common mistake that frustrates recruiters is poor formatting. A CV should have headings, bullet points, and must have the same font style throughout to make information clear. In addition, spelling and grammar mistakes are unacceptable, as employers may think applicants who make these errors are people who don't have enough attention or respect to check small details. Even one mistake can make a CV seem careless to "them". To avoid this, job seekers should proofread their CVs carefully, use a spell-check tool, and ask someone else to review it.

Another mistake is listing everything in the CV and sending the same version to all employers without making adjustments to match the specific job they are applying for. A CV should only highlight "relevant" achievements. For example, if applying for a customer service role, you should only include experiences that show you have good communication skills and great patience. It is also important to avoid general terms like "hardworking" or "team player" unless you can give concrete examples, as these terms add little value without supporting evidence.

Some candidates include unnecessary personal details. A CV should focus only on job-related information. Employers do not need personal details like hobbies unless requested. Finally, using an unprofessional email, such as "sodoclon@example.com," can create a negative impression. It is better to use a formal email with your name, such as "ThienHuy.work@example.com," to maintain a professional image.
